A New Toy Story 4 Trailer and Poster Are Here
Even though Toy Story 3 gave us a beautiful ending to Buzz, Woody, and all of Andy’s toys, they are coming back to the big screen this summer. The toys now belong to Bonnie, but when her family takes a vacation, adventure ensues and you can bet that they’ll be meeting plenty of new toys along the way.
A New Poster
To the left of the original Toy Story trio in the poster is a new, villainous character named Gabby Gabby, voiced by Christina Hendricks. She’s joined by a couple of her creepy doll soldiers, all named Benson. Soaring high above them is a thrill-riding action figure, Duke Caboom, voiced by Keanu Reeves.
On the other side of the poster, we see some new characters who were revealed in the first Toy Story 4 teasers. The spork-centric craft project is Forky, a do-it-yourself toy made by Bonnie. Tony Hale is providing the voice for that character. He is joined by the carnival prize duo Ducky and Bunny, voiced by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, famous for their sketch comedy series, Key & Peele.
The final new character on the poster is a little harder to spot. Sitting on the shoulder of Bo Peep is Giggle McDimples. Giggle is Bo’s best friend, acting as a Jiminy Cricket type for the character. Cloak & Dagger star Ally Maki provides the voice of Giggle.
A New Trailer
Woody and Bo Peep were extremely close in the previous films. Based on the trailer, it appears that their rekindling their friendship will be a large part of the newest outing. Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley explains Bo’s return.
Bo’s taken control of her own destiny. While Woody was watching Andy grow up, Bo gathered dust until she took it upon herself to head out into the world. And when Woody shows up, they can’t believe that they’ve found each other again.
Here is the official synopsis for the sequel:
Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.
I’m hoping this film doesn’t detract from the trilogy that I love, but we’ll have to wait to see how it goes until June 21, 2019.
