Celebrate 25 Years of Batman: The Animated Series

Here at Stolendroids, we’re huge fans of Arlen Schumer and his efforts to help preserve and raise awareness of comic book history. Thankfully, his efforts occasionally branch out into other fields, including TV shows. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series last year, he created a visual lecture describing the artistic elements and influences of the show with a lot of information that I’m guessing most people are unaware of. The lecture is now available for the general public, and if you’re a fan of comics, cartoons, or Batman, you need to watch it. Check it out above and let us know your thoughts.

Illustrator and comic book historian Arlen Schumer (The Silver Age of Comic Book Art) marks 25 years since the debut of animator Bruce Timm’s groundbreaking BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES! Its canny combination of multiple versions of the character’s comic incarnations took the animation and comic book worlds by storm, and is respected as perhaps the greatest translation of not only Batman, but any comic book character, to any medium. Filmed by Aaron Nabus of Hall H (http://hallh.com) at the Palm Springs Comicon, November 12, 2017. Based on an article by Arlen for the trade magazine of graphic design, PRINT: www.arlenschumer.com/images/stories/history_pdfs/PRINT_Batman_cartoons_article.pdf
