Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio – Episode 166

Welcome back to another episode of Movies that Make Us. We’re discussing the latest retelling of the classic tale of Pinocchio. This version is from director Guillermo del Toro and is arguably the front runner for the Best Animated Oscar for the year.

This stop-motion film has absolutely gorgeous animation and presents a fresh and interesting update to the classic tale of the wooden boy who comes to life. Set in Facist Italy during World War II, the film is a darker and more mature version of the story than you might expect. Its now streaming on Netflix.
