Kristen Wiig Rumored to Play Cheetah in Wonder Woman Sequel

Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros and DC are in talks with Wiig to play the role of Cheetah in the upcoming sequel to Wonder Woman. The film, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, is rumored to take place during the Cold War of the 1980’s.

For those not familiar with the villain, Cheetah is an identity that has been adopted by multiple characters over the years. Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston first introduced the character in 1943’s Wonder Woman No. 6, but Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva, the most famous version of the character, didn’t appear in comics until 1987 during Len Wein’s and artist George Perez’s run on the title. Minerva is a British anthropologist and heiress who gains the powers of the cheetah after an expedition to an African jungle.

Wonder Woman 2 is currently slated to hit theaters November 1, 2019.
