Marcel the Shell with Shoes on
Movies That Make Us Episode 152
Welcome to another episode of Movies that Make Us! We’re continuing our examination of feel-good movies with a charming film from Studio A24 called Marcel the Shell with Shoes on.
It’s an American mockumentary film directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (in his feature directional debut), who co-wrote the screenplay with Jenny Slate and Nick Paley. It is based on a series of shorts of the same name written by Slate and Fleischer Camp. Slate reprises her voice role as Marcel, an anthropomorphic shell living with his grandmother Connie. Fleischer Camp, Rosa Salazar, Thomas Mann, and Isabella Rossellini also star.
This film is absolutely charming and heartwarming that your whole family will love and it received a rare AAA rating from the team. Catch it in theaters if you can, but make sure you catch it VOD or Streaming. It’s absolutely one of our favorite movies of the year.
