Marvel Announces Three New Shows for Disney+

During Disney’s D23 Expo yesterday, Marvel Studios announced that Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk are currently in development for Disney+. The shows will be part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We don’t know much about any of the shows; however, we do know that Bisha K. Ali will write Ms. Marvel. She will also act as showrunner. There is no word yet on who will take on similar responsibilities on the other shows. There have also been no casting announcements.

The following logos were also revealed.

Ms. Marvel

The Magnificent Ms. Marvel

A production involving Ms. Marvel was confirmed to be in development back in May 2018 by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige who told the BBC,

We are doing Captain Marvel right now. Captain Marvel is shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero, who is inspired by Captain Marvel is definitely, sort of, in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.

Moon Knight

Moon Knight

It’s been thought that Moon Knight would be appearing in the MCU in some capacity for a while now with the most recent rumors giving him his own series on Hulu where he could potentially crossover with Ghost Rider and Helstrom. He’s a fan-favorite character so it’s not surprising to see him get his own series.

Moon Knight was originally conceived as a villain when he was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin in 1975. He turned out to be more popular than Marvel anticipated so they retconned his origin and turned him into a gritty antihero.

Like with Moon Knight, there have been a lot of rumors recently regarding She-Hulk. The most recent of which saw her appearing in the next Spider-Man film as Peter Parker’s attorney after Spider-Man’s identity was outed by J. Jonah Jameson.

Another rumor involved a She-Hulk/Hulk series for Disney+ that would also star Mark Ruffalo. Considering She-Hulk has been Marvel’s primary Hulk in the comics following the events of Civil War II, and since neither Disney or Marvel have provided any details about the show, this one could prove to be true.

What do you think about the announcements? Which of the three shows are you most excited about?
