Marvel’s the Punisher Pulled from New York Comic Con

If you are planning on attending New York Comic Con in hopes of attending panels for Marvel’s The Punisher, then you may want to rethink your plans. In the wake of this weekend’s tragic events in Las Vegas, Marvel and Netflix have decided to cancel Saturday’s panel highlighting the upcoming series.

In a joint statement released yesterday, Marvel and Netflix said the following:

“We are stunned and saddened by this week’s senseless act in Las Vegas. After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for Marvel’s The Punisher to participate in New York Comic-Con. Our thoughts continue to be with the victims and those affected by this tragedy.”

There has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks that Netflix would surprise fans and release the series shortly after New York Comic Con. However, given the current circumstances, that seems somewhat unlikely at this point.

What are your thoughts on this decision? Is it the right move to pull the panel for The Punisher, or should Marvel and Netflix have gone forward as planned? Let us know in the comments!
