Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Confirmed for Disney+

It was rumored, but the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been officially confirmed with Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the wise and noble Jedi master.

During yesterday’s Disney+ panel at D23 Expo, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced the series as McGregor joined her on stage.

After secrets and fibs and not being able to talk about it, I am thrilled to bring out a beloved member of the Star Wars family…

McGregor asked Kennedy if she would ask him in front of “all these witnesses” if he was “going to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again.” She obliged which he responded “Yes. It’s been four years of saying ‘Oh, I don’t know. We’ve been talking.’ Now I can say yes, we’re gonna do it.”

Kennedy went on to confirm that the scripts are already complete and filming will begin in 2020.

Now that it’s official, what are your thoughts? Are you excited to see McGregor return as Obi-Wan Kenobi? What do you hope to see in the new series?
