Samuel L. Jackson Will Voice Amazon’s Alexa Devices

If you’ve ever used any of Amazon’s Alexa devices, you know that the AI is a long way from bringing about Judgement Day. However, they are a fun piece of technology to have in your home if you feel like nobody ever listens to you. It’s also awesome if you want to get frustrated when you say “Alexa, add grapes to the shopping list” only to find that you bought Carnation Instant Breakfast because it was “on the list,” yet those grapes somehow escaped the cart. Seriously… This has happened.

Well, Amazon has decided to kick the entertainment factor up a notch by finally including Samuel L. Jackson on their Alexa devices. The tech giant announced earlier this week that the MCU star would be Alexa’s first celebrity voice to make use of the company’s neural text-to-speech technology.

It’s going to cost you $0.99 to add Samuel L. Jackson to your Alexa, but that’s only an introductory price. After the introductory period, the price will go up to $4.99. So for less than $5 you can hear him read you the news, tell you the weather, or even tell you a joke. And even though he can do a lot, Sam won’t be able to help with shopping, lists, reminders, or skills.

The feature will also not let Jackson’s reputation for colorful language go to waste; however, users will have the option to turn swearing on or off.

Amazon indicated that more celebrity voices will be added next year.
