Smokey and the Bandit – Episode 181

Welcome back to another episode of Movies that Make Us. Val is in South Africa, so Robert Neal from Age of Geek podcast to join the team and discuss the 1977 film Smokey and the Bandit.

Starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and Jackie Gleason, the film tells the story of Bandit and Snowman trying to bootleg 400 cases of Coors beer from TexArkana to Atlanta in 28 hours. Made for just 4.3 million dollars (Burt Reynolds earned 1 million in salary) it became the second highest grossing movie of 1977. It’s a road movie that is definitely a product of its time, but it still works incredibly well.

What are your thoughts on the film? We also want to know your favorite car chase movie so let us know on social media. As always, you can reach us at podcast@moviesthatmakeus.com.
