SOUL Will Skip Theaters

In what is sure to be another painful blow to movie theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Pixar’s Soul will premiere on Disney+. Originally slated for a November 20 release, the film will instead debut on the streaming service on December 25.

The choice to move Soul from a theatrical release to Disney+ is similar to what Disney did earlier this year with the live-action remake of Mulan. However, unlike Mulan which came with a $29.99 premium price, Soul will be available at no extra charge to the service’s more than 60 million subscribers.

Soul is directed by Pete Docter and co-directed by Kemp Powers from a screenplay by Docter, Powers, and Mike Jones. The film stars the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Questlove, Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs, and Angela Bassett.
