T-Mobile Launches 5G

T-Mobile flipped the switch for its low-band 5G network today, meaning that 200 million Americans can now access 5G service. Even though other carriers such as Verizon and Sprint have already turned their 5G networks on, their coverage has primarily been focused on a handful of major cities. In comparison, T-Mobile’s coverage is far broader, covering about 60% of the United States.
If you’re hoping to take advantage of all that 5G has to offer, you may have to wait a bit since currently only two phones will work on the network: the $1,299.99 Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G and the $899.99 OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren. However, if you’re patient, T-Mobile says that it will introduce 15 new 5G-compatible phones with the first hitting shelves during the first quarter of 2020.
With the low-band 5G networks, there is great coverage, but not a lot of speed. Add add to that the fact that T-Mobile is currently offering two devices that can take advantage of the network and it may be a while before we really see everything that has been promised with the upgrade to 5G. What do you think though? Will you be jumping on T-Moible’s 5G bandwagon?
