During today’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker panel at Disney’s D23 Expo, director J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy hit the stage with other members of the cast including Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and newcomer Keri Russell to discuss the film, unveil a new poster, and reveal new footage.

Because much of what was discussed could be considered spoilers, I’m opting to not include it here. If you really want to know the details, there are plenty of sources out there with the information. What I will show though is the new poster which is probably one of my favorite posters since the Revenge of the Jedi poster in the early 1980s. (I had one hanging on my wall as a kid. Boy, how I wish I still had it.)

The Rise of Skywalker poster revealed today shows Rey and Kylo Ren facing off in a storm with the face of the Emperor looming over them. If there was any question as to whether or not the Emperor would play a major factor in the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga, I think this poster answers that.

What do you think about the new poster? Where does it rank on your list of favorite Star Wars posters?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Lupita Nyong’o. Check out the trailer while you wait for the film to hit theaters on December 20, 2019.
